The pathogenesis of delayed menstruation differs between deficiency and excess syndromes. In deficiency syndromes, it is mostly caused by kidney deficiency, blood deficiency, and cold deficiency leading to insufficient essence and blood, inadequate Chong and Ren meridians, and the blood sea not filling on time, resulting in delayed menstruation. In excess syndromes, it is often due to blood cold, qi stagnation, and other factors causing poor blood circulation, obstruction of the Chong and Ren meridians, and the blood sea not filling as scheduled, leading to delayed menstruation.
