Suddenly cold, suddenly hot, sometimes rainy, sometimes sunny, a whole day passes through spring, summer, autumn, and winter—that's really exciting! Such weather can easily cause a cold if you're not careful, and once you catch a cold, is a cough far behind?
When a cough starts, many people try various remedies to stop it. However, some cough remedies work for others but no matter how you take them, they don't work for you. Why is that?
Generally speaking, cough is mostly caused by respiratory diseases, such as colds, pharyngitis, pneumonia, asthma, etc.
Coughs in spring are somewhat different; they are mostly caused by external pathogens invading the lungs. The three most common types are: wind-cold cough, wind-heat cough, and lung dryness cough.
All three can cause headaches, but the specific symptoms differ:
Wind-cold cough commonly presents with chills, slight fever, no sweating, nasal congestion, clear nasal discharge, sneezing, itchy throat, thin white phlegm, and a thin white tongue coating;
Wind-heat cough commonly presents with aversion to wind, fever, sweating, thirst, dry and sore throat, yellow nasal discharge, yellow-white thick phlegm, unsatisfactory expectoration, and a thin yellow tongue coating;
Dry cough due to lung dryness is commonly accompanied by fever, dryness of the mouth and nose, itching and dryness or pain in the throat, dry cough without phlegm, or scanty sticky phlegm that is difficult to expectorate, a red tongue tip, and a dry tongue body with little saliva.
When coughing, most people will take some loquat syrup, but loquat syrup is not suitable for everyone.
Loquat PasteLike loquat, its nature is slightly cool. Loquat syrup is effective for sore throat, thick yellow phlegm, and heat-type coughs with difficult-to-expectorate phlegm, such as wind-heat cough, dry heat cough, and lung fire cough.
In cases of dry and itchy throat, with little or no phlegm when coughing, taking too much loquat syrup may actually worsen the symptoms.
When you first start to cough, you may want to try the following tea therapy:
